War is not the first answer that officials or the public provide to remedy a problematic situation. Unfortunately, at times, conflict cannot be avoided. When action must be taken, the Unites States of America is known to be a powerful force. Throughout history, there have been different ways our country has been brought into and ultimately involved itself in wars. Three significant wars the United States of America has fought in include: World War One, World War Two, and the Korean War. In each of these three momentous wars, the United States of America had a different impact on the progression and outcome.
In World War One, President Woodrow Wilson was the one to ask Congress to approve a declaration of war on Germany. The rival country had ignored their promise to “suspend unrestricted submarine warfare in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean,” (1) in addition they were attempting “to entice Mexico into an alliance against the United States.” For these two main reasons, the United States of America began to fight in WW1. On April 6, 1917, the United States declared war on Germany. At that time, the Unites States was not part of the Allies alliance. For this reason, there was no declaration of war on the other countries that made up the Central Powers alliance. On December 17, 1917, however, Congress did wage war against Austria-Hungary. Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire never received an affirmation of war from the United States of America. It took the United States time…
