The textbook discusses ways to give each child an equal opportunity to participate, and states that singling quiet students out may do more harm than good (Woolfolk et al., 2016, p. 357), while the article encourages teachers to actively seek out students who are struggling (Indiana University, 2014).
These seven articles show in greater detail than what is presented in textbooks the many ways in which low SES students encounter hurdles to learning both at home and in a school setting. This shows that children from low SES families must work harder to achieve similar levels of educational success as children from high SES families. Children who come from low SES families must be more resilient, and determined to succeed. Not only do they face struggles within their home and communities, but also struggles that they encounter within the education system from both administration and
