Many people have committed crimes. Some because that is what they do best and some because they don 't know any better and even some who commit crimes out of love, believing the crime is for a greater good. The United States criminal justice system should not allow for exceptions in the application of law due to the fact that justice should be applied equally to all. Even though a person might be disabled, a violation of the law or murder still remains as an illegal action. Another reason is that the law should be applied equally for all. The third and final reason is that the criminal justice should treat everyone equal despite their moral beliefs. The main the reason for why the criminal justice system should not allow for exceptions in the application of law is that even though a person might be disabled, a violation of the law or murder still remains an illegal action and the suffering caused by crime cannot be taken back. For example, in the novel, Of Mice Men, written by John Steinbeck, there is a character that seems to be mentally disabled. He murders a woman and many other animals due to his lack self control and awareness. Lennie’s actions resulted in the loss of an innocent life that could 've grown to be something great. This woman said “I could made somethin’ of myself… Maybe I will yet.” However, she was never given the chance due to her murder. Therefore, even though this character had…
