The World Trade Center also created more problems other than, lives were lost and a lot of money spent. A major problem that was created due to the World Trade Center attack, jobs issues and made many people lose their jobs around New York City. According to Eaton Leslie “The national recession and the attack on the World Trade Center cost New York City…bringing the city 's total job losses to about 223,000 in the last two years.” It’s a huge number of jobs that was lost just in New York City. The World Trade Center attack effected New York City community in job loss and that created more unemployment. However, which caused the unemployment rate to rise up higher. Losses were heaviest at Kennedy and La Guardia Airports, with air transportation accounting for more than 60 percent of the jobs lost and nearly 80 percent of the wages. The impact on the other boroughs was noticeable.” Jobs were even lost in Queens and many other places in New York City as well. The people, who worked at airports, lost their jobs. All boroughs such as, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Bronx and Queens had job losses and they were noticeable. As it was stated earlier, a lot of people can’t forget the pain of the World Trade Center because everyone lost something. There might not be people that were affected in Brooklyn by the attack, but for sure they lost their jobs due to the attack. This caused a lot of unemployment in everywhere in this city. How the community of New York City was affected? The World Trade Center raised the rate of unemployment which caused the New York City to have higher unemployment rate. Firstly, the security in New York City became stricter due to the attack the City went through. The security became stricter around the United States of America. New York City’s attack made the United States of America to preparer the airlines and airports with a lot of security. Airports are now very secured around the United States of America. New York City’s airports don’t allow food or bottles to be entered into the City of New York, such as John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airport. A lot of people would bring food from their home countries and it would be taken away or they throw it in the garbage. Jennie Wood stated, “No food or bottled water is allowed through security.” Passengers are not free to bring food into the airport after they have checked in. September 11th attack affected people until today because a lot of people are very limited with what they can bring into the country today. Many people can’t find some of their home food in New York City or America; and they are not allowed to bring it in because of the strict security that the airports have since the September 11th attack. Secondly, the lines became longer in the airports due to the more security checks. Wood stated, “The extra security protocol means longer lines.” People are required to leave home early while traveling from New York City or America because there will be a long line in the airport.
