Physical Victimization For too long now jails, and prisons have had a negative stigma of when you get there you have to watch your back. There is a more reoccurring victimization going on in need of addressing. Sexual victimization, in the form of an inmate raping another inmate. Often times we hear about situations of rape going on correctional facilities. Not until 2003, where sexual assault has been paid extra attention too. The Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 was enacted to do so. The Bureau of Justice Statistics annually statistically analyze in incidents and effects of rape. At least 10 percent of all states, county and prisons are looked at. Seeing how bad the problems are in the system. Sexual assault in jails and prisons go unreported, because the victim fears for their safety. Do not want to be hurt again, so this issue becomes a dark crime figure going
