The use of irony in “The Machine That Won the War” isn’t very high. There only a few examples that I can find in this intriguing story. One of the few examples is when Max is trying to quit smoking, yet towards the end of the story, Max lights a cigarettes. The second, and last piece of irony I can find in the story is when John Henderson flips a coin towards the end, indicating that he made all the changes based off a flip of a couple of coins.
