Unicorns are one of a kind magical creatures, "extinct in the modern world" (Williams 83). In Laura's glass menagerie collection, the unicorn is her favorite one. The unicorn stood out from the other animals, it is special because it has "the single horn on his forehead" (Williams 83). Laura has a crippled leg and social anxiety problems, she is distinctive from other girls her age. Laura and the unicorn both "feel sort of lonesome" (Williams 83), they are unique individuals in the world. Jim is introduced to Laura's glass unicorn, and finds it interesting, then later sets it on the table.
