I live in Orlando. I had everything. Spent money on expensive clothes and shoes, instead of saving the money or spending it more wisely. I’m not a rich person, but I’m not poor either. I also didn’t have a job so when I spent money it didn’t really matter to me because it wasn’t coming from my pocket, but it was coming from my mothers. I was really proud of allowing myself to open up to new experiences and developing important life skills. This trip changed my life by making me value my parents way more than I used to and value what they have done for my brothers and I. It has made me embrace my roots and the culture I have grow up in. Also, it made me more independent by teaching me how to live in a place I’m not familiar with and to do things on my own. In addition it made me realize that I should take every opportunity that is handed to me because many don't get the opportunities we are offered. From smelling the salty waters by the Florida Keys, seeing all of the green from the stems of green beans growing, the flavor of the freshest eggs you could get from the coop in the backyard, to the avocado tree growing in the backyard, my trip to Florida had become one of the greatest life experiences I’ve had yet. Visiting Florida taught me many skills on being independent, mentally, and how easy and fun it is just to be to yourself sometimes. It all started Christmas eve when I got home to find my presents from “Santa” there before we even went to bed. My parents had planned on taking a vacation to Florida for Christmas break to see my grandparents, but we were unable to also get my parents there.…
