That’s where spyware is handy, you can keep your teens internet activity up to date on every letter he types according to Coben. Having that responsibility to just check his activity only for dangerous chats is trust for both of you to trust yourself as a parent and your teens privacy. Coben’s statements are strong on the point where he details where spyware might sound scary but it's a good idea. That supports why it being so scary is why it's such a major responsibility to set aside his privacy. My parents would tell me stories about how my mom's friend's daughter was the sweet and smart, always cleaned her room and obeyed her parents rules. Overtime she started to act unusual, so her parents went on her computer to try to get an understanding of why she was acting strange and they found emails on after school meet ups to deliver drug packages for money. First overall, they would feel a huge invasion of privacy knowing you see who they type to and what they do overall. That would cause lost of trust and that’s all teenagers want at a adolescent age. Using spyware privately can show their capability on how they can handle tough situations like getting emails from strangers and how they react to inappropriate websites. You as a parent can see how well you have taught your teen to ignore inappropriate pop-up ads and emails. The results can maybe change to not having to have high surveillance on your teen if they handle unusual things
