The ethics of care is the need for understanding relationships and the costs of losing connections with oneself and others as well. Ethics of care mostly relates to the concerns occurring in our world today. Gilligan believes that the differences in ethic perspective are related to gender, that is, that men and women follow different, but parallel paths of the moral development that lead them to make their ethical choice based on different ethical criteria. He violates the ethics of care in a variety of ways. He treats the girls with no respect and claims he must “inspect” the girls every day, making them feel uncomfortable. For example, when he’s doing the lineup, he calls up “Reina” and exaggerates how bad her nails look. Jimbo believes his staff are all “Pre-Madonna’s” in which he is stereotyping. He believes the whole Hooters product brand is the Women and tends to mistreat it inappropriately. For the girls to leave early from there shift, he makes them have a contest known as “reindeer games”, where they eat a plate of beans without using their hands. Marcee is a mother of two little girls, one is 5-year-old and a 4-year-old, she struggles with stress in not being able to dedicate time with her girls. She has a very great perception of the ethics of care. She takes care of these girls as if they were her own. Marcee is very understanding and respectful towards her employees. She not only cares about her employees, but also her customers as well. For example, when this gentleman had too many drinks, she told him because he is under the influence, she can’t allow him to have that drink. It shows that she cares beyond what is expected in her job. She has a humor and this spirit full of light that keeps her going.
Lastly, Colby goes undercover at The Naturally Fresh, which is where they do all the Hooters sauces. In which he admits, he hasn’t been there since he was 16. He is scared to still be living under his dad’s shadow. He wants to figure out if employees are as happy as they were when his dad was in charge compared to now.
