Initiative vs. Guilt As a consequence of the time I was in the children 's circle, and the discipline from my teachers and parents to meet a daily routine, my confidence grew considerably. My performance was exemplary. Besides, I felt not only comfortable, but I enjoyed the daily activities. However, in the coming years I would learn that things are not kept motionless, just the opposite may change at any time.
The first change I would face would be the influence of my parents. Initially, they let me choose for myself the games that I was more sympathetic. First, she was in charge of my care while my father was working. Second, my father only had a few hours to be with me after work, but usually I was playing alone or other kids. But, everything changed after the recovery process. Due to the invasive nature of the surgery, where the whole stomach was removed, symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and headaches were constant. Besides, he was predicted with side effects such as reflux, stomach upset, and diarrhea that would cause an irrevocable malnutrition for the rest of his life. Identity confusion
By the time I got to adolescence, I was an excellent student, disciplined, and with just a few friends that I kept from previous years. But, I was craving for independence so I decided to apply for a scholarship. My parents agreed with me at the beginning because they did not want to forbid me something that would be an opportunity for my academic development. After all, this school had a better and demanding program. Nevertheless, when I was accepted it was difficult for them to let me go. After all, I’d be at home only on weekends and I was only twelve years old.
As always, because I had change school in the middle of the year and I was alone for the first time, it took me a while to adapt myself to the new system. Meanwhile, this reformation of my life started affecting my grades. The only aspect of my life that I had the confidence to excel and it was taking away.
