The ugly ducking a fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen was a commonly found bedtime story for children. The story of a homely little bird born in a barnyard who suffer physical and verbal abuse from those around him due to his grotesque appearance. Only till he mature into a beautiful swan, then started to be loved. A story that exhibits the weightiness of appearance in every society, even the bedtime story for children.
Do physically attractive individual are more likable compared to an average? Apparently, the answer assures being yes. As humans, items with more appealing look are preferred, that is why packaging is so crucial in the business. The products with a better design have a greater sales volume compare to the unfavorable

As confidence of individuals is determined by their appearance and helps them stand out. Hence, Less attractive individuals are less likely to be hired and promoted and they earn lower salaries despite the absence of any difference in cognitive ability (Rhode, 2010). This all goes down to the nature of human, clients prefer to communicate with better looking personals. Leading companies tend to hire employees with better external appearance to enhance company image. Just like the present executive chairman of Alibaba group, Jack Ma share his experience in application of job stories after college during the 2015 world economic forum in Davos, he said that he has been turned down by more than 30 jobs after his college and even basic jobs in KFC due to his physical appearance without deep test into his abilities. Furthermore, profusion numbers of jobs in our current society still carrying out appearance standards during recruitment such as airlines, resulting individuals with less attractive looks are at the losing end with lesser opportunities( Malos, 2007). In Rohde’s book, she also mentions that there is an increasing investment of individual in their appearance in order to gain greater recognition and achieving a better interpersonal relationship with their colleagues and their clients. In order to be seen as attractive in the eye of the opposite sex, having a good characteristic does not create interest to know more about the person at the first sight, while looks are.
