In this session Maria is very nervous because she had not taken her meds. She looks very shaky and her paper is very disjointed. Follow up by greeting the tutee is one part the other is that she mentions that she is very nervous and the she had not taken her meds. By making a restatement and asking her what does she needs help with clarifies that she seeking help for her paper and reinstates that she have to focus on her session. Making and empathetic statement reinforce her to feel more confident and make her take the session with more relax.
