To protect someone you must have their best interest at heart. Telling the truth will not always give you that interest and that is when being dishonest is acceptable. I want you to think about when you were a child and all the lies your parents had told you growing up. For example, most of us have been told by our parents that we were the best at everything like singing, dancing, soccer, etc.. By now, we all know most of those are not true but are we mad at our parents for lying to us? No, because it helped shape us into the unique individuals we are. They were protecting us by helping us build our confidence and boosting our self-esteem so when someone else tries to knock us down, we will get right back up. It is important to note that prior to being on the show, she was seen as an average nineteen year old girl. Once the truth was told she was shamed, being called a prostitute and a slut. I believe it is not fair to judge someone based on their mistakes because we all make them. Our mistakes do not define us as a person. Yet, whenever we are truthful about our mistakes, our honesty seems to go unnoticed and the bad things are what people focus on. Is the judgement of others worth telling the truth? Absolutely not and Ruth Thalia who, her mother said, “ 'confessed to her mother that she’d thought of suicide '” would most likely agree (Alarcon 81). Our well-being is more important than the
