Failures are not terrible, as long as we can find the reasons and make effort to do better next time. Spirit victory can prevent your steps of progress, and makes you feel satisfied with the present status. As a backward nation, we should recognize our position, and find ways to strengthen ourselves. If we act like Ah Q in real life, then we will eventually ruin. Interestingly, I found that there is also a good side of spirit victory, normally people call it positive thoughts. In some situations, this kind of positive thoughts can adjust our attitudes and bring some confidence. For example, when we don’t do well on something and feel depressed, we can tell ourselves, “It’s okay, I can do better next time.” This is a kind of self-suggestion, and sometimes it works

Avenue Q Performance Review Avenue Q is a 2 act musical, written by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx that is a satirical coming of age story. Avenue Q tells the story of a recent college graduate, Princeton, as he moves to New York City and attempts to navigate the challenges of finding a job and finding his purpose. He moves to Avenue Q, an admittedly shabby looking street in the city, where he meets Christmas Eve, a Japanese-American therapist, her husband Brian, an aspiring comedian perpetually in between jobs, Kate Monster, a kind yet naïve kindergarten assistant teacher and Trekkie Monster, an odd duo of socially-stunted internet-addicted monsters, Nicky, the lazy roommate of Rod, a Republican investment banker who struggles with questions of identity. Princeton attempts to find his purpose and along the way he develops a relationship with Kate Monster. Tension in the play is caused by the trouble with this relationship as it comes into conflict with Lucy, a provocative dancer whose musical number unwittingly becomes their first date, and Princeton’s own struggles with deciding how to focus on finding his purpose.…

Glory is an extraordinary thing that can only be earned when a person has done something amazing. Glory makes a person proud of him or herself and shows the person is noteworthy. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but rising in every time we fail.” The idea expressed in this quote is that our greatest pride is not in never giving up, but in getting back up every time we fall. While classical Hollywood biopics often featured “self-made individuals” who undergo trials “that set the extraordinary individual off from his or her peers”, “contemporary bio-pics from Hong Kong portray the great and the good trying, but failing, to take hold of a situation that is beyond their control” - reflecting the general mood within the political context of that era (Stringer, 1997). Centre Stage, by focusing on Ruan Lingyu, draws a parallel between “1930s Shanghai and 1990s Hong Kong”, both of which are “clearly contrasted as modern, cosmopolitan cities that suffer invasion by an occupying force (the Japanese and Communists, respectively)” (Stringer, 1997). The “absence of the lost films” that Ruan originally performed in also “provides a space within which” Kwan’s idealized imagination of Shanghai with a “Hong Kong subjectivity can be inserted” (Stringer, 1997). This sense of identification with and nostalgia for the selectively constructed Shanghai is especially evident in the film with how “the “1930s” is filmed in color while the “1990s” is in black and white, suggesting that the past is more colorful and desirable”…
