The triangular theory of love is a theory that emphasizes the dynamic quality of love relationships. According to this theory, love is composed of three elements that are depicted by the points of a triangle, inclusive of intimacy, passion, and commitment, which can be combined in a variety of ways to create different types of love, varying in the degree of love, such as romantic love, infatuation, and empty love. The component of intimacy is relative to the feeling of togetherness and closeness between individuals rather than the notion of physical intimacy. Additionally, we have a physical attraction for one another and are committed to each other. Because our beliefs are quite similar, we are able to want the same things from our relationship, which includes mutual respect, honesty, humility, and patience to name a few. This is precisely why I strongly believe that my current partner is my “ideal match,” also because I have an attraction to older men based on the premise that men my age lack a sense of maturity. He values the same characteristics that I do which pertains to treating others in a respectful manner and always doing good unto others regardless of what may be given to you. Through our relationship, we have grown in our love and have “adopted” the favorable traits that each person has such as learning to be selfless and considerate for those who are less fortunate.
