The Treaty of Versailles may have officially ended World War I but it had influence that promoted World War II that lasted through December 1941. On June 28, 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was signed after a six month long negotiation. The treaty was for Germany to accept responsibility for causing the war which is now known as the War Guilt Clause, or Article 231 in the Treaty of Versailles. Germany agreed to pay reparations from the war, but those plans were cancelled in 1932 when Hitler’s came to power which became problematic to the remaining terms of the treaty.
