Physician Assisted Suicide Persuasive Speech

Imagine you have been physically ill for some time and you have been put through tests. Poked and prodded several times, given blood sample after blood sample because the doctors have to run through different tests trying to figure out what is wrong with you. Finally, the doctors call you in to their office to sit you down and explain what is going on with your health. The diagnosis is grim and basically the doctors tell you that you have cancer or some other life threatening disease that is deteriorating your health. Most the time if its cancer it’s in the last stage usually a 4 or 5 and they give you a time frame of a few months to a year. What would you be thinking about as you process this information? Should you go with the aggressive option and take the treatments that the doctors prescribe? What if they lose the battle, trying to fight the disease? There are other options to dealing with those who don’t want to have to deal with these options of treatment. Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS) is an option some people decide to go with because they don’t want to have to endure what comes with taking treatments to help them battle diseases that might not work in the end. PAS is a physician who with the patient’s consent gives them medication whether it be oral or through an IV to pass away at a time the patient chooses before the disease takes over the body. It is supposed to be a comfortable and calm alternative to what will be the inevitable end of their lives. There are two groups of people who have opinions about PAS, those who are for it and those who are against it. Let’s take a look at each side and see what the pros and cons are to get a better idea of what PAS
