Analysis has shown that they enjoyed many equal rights just like their men. The major determining factor was the social class of an individual. Royal women enjoyed more privileges than those in other social classes. Women in the ancient societies were required to be submissive to their husbands though some from Medieval Europe differed with the assertion. Being submissive implies serving their husbands by fulfilling their duties as wives and most importantly acting as efficient custodians of their husband’s property when they were away. Children played a vital role in binding a man and a woman thus it was the responsibility of the woman to ensure all the needs of their children were met as this proved her eligibility as an ideal wife. In the ancient times, women were more of helpers than companions to men since they had limited rights in many societies. If I were a woman in the ancient times, I would have chosen to live in the Egyptian society since women had equal rights to men thus providing an individual with ample opportunities to develop
