Every man has a treasure, what would you do to get yours? In the story The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers the theme is that every man has a treasure. In the The short story The Pearl by John Steinbeck the theme is what’s important in life. In The Peal a poor Indian man named Kino found a pearl, that should solve all of his problems. Unfortunately he faces some problems among the way. The Treasure of Lemon Brown is about a boy named Greg who’s father told him he couldn’t do something he wanted so he leaves the house and meets a man who helps Greg understand what’s important in life. Greg from the Treasure of Lemon Brown and Kino from The Pearl both go through life altering changes throughout the book. In the Pearl Kino goes …show more content…
“He hadn’t been able to play high school ball which is what he wanted to do” Greg thought that ball was life, then his dad said he couldn't play for the team. He then runs off and meets a homeless man named Lemon Brown. From there Lemon Brown tells hima story that teaches Greg a valuable lesson. “Thought of the he knew his father would give him and smiled.” Greg realizes that basketball isn’t everything and that he should appreciate the small things in life This shows that Greg isn’t the same as he was at the beginning. Greg is appreciative for the small things and doesn’t just care for basketball. All in all Greg realized that he should appreciate everything and not sweat the small stuff. In the end both of these stories are about young men who go through life altering changes after some event. Both main characters from the Treasure of Lemon Brown and The Pearl go through changes that change their life. In the Pearl go through life changing experiences after finding a pearl. In The treasure of Lemon Brown a boy named Greg went through life altering changes after meeting Lemon Brown.
