Transgender is when an individual tries to switch genders. The term “transgender” is becoming more and more well known throughout the United States. Research has proven that many trans-individuals decide later on in their lives that they want to switch genders, and other people argue that they were born the wrong gender, making it a very controversial topic. There are many obstacles that trans-people face throughout their lives. “The transgender rights movement is becoming more visible in the mainstream public. Within the church, Christians should show compassion and not sin transgender people” (Kennedy 43). Pastors and church members reinforce to trans-people that the Bible, and God did not make mistakes in gender. “Many courts throughout the years have interpreted the First Amendment’s clause on freedom of religion to mean that there is a distinct separation of religion and governing laws…” (Teich 105). The most famous verse from the Bible referring to acceptance of trans-people states “‘A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment; for whoever does these things is a abomination tot eh Lord your God (Deuteronomy 22:5)’” (106). There are Christian churches that clearly address the topic of transgenderism stating that God has brought humans who are male, and female, and sometimes a complex mix of male and female in their bodies. Religions have their own views on trans-individuals all ranging from one another. There are two sides of what people believe that trans-individuals should have. One side is all for trans-people having the same exact rights that homosexual people have. People try to find their way through life just anyone else, so why should they have unequal rights or treated differently? As opposed to the other side believes that trans-people already have enough rights in today’s society. Gender identity is no secret, so why try to hide or change it? There are people who believe that it is sick, and wrong to simply try to change your gender identity. They believe most people naturally fit into our gender roles; therefore, some people believe trans-individuals should not have equal rights as homosexuals. There are many things to take into consideration when trying to understand why someone feels the way they do about trans-individuals. Viewing sex and gender as two separate concepts is one way. Sex tends to be a more biological term meaning that it is determined at birth. Gender is cultural, and you pick up traits and behaviors learned through human interaction. After reading the article Transgender Today, written by Eve Glicksman, I was able to collect information about transgender and how public perception is changing, in a glorious way. A few of the changes we have seen over the past several decades with public’s perception of transgender is that “more studies are exploring treatment for transgender people who seek it” (Glicksman), transgender individuals are now being praised and supported more frequently, and health insurance plans are starting to be offered from multiple universities. In the beginning, being transgender was frowned upon, many would refer to transgender as “nature made a mistake” (Glicksman). Another astonishing sign that transgender people are now more accepted than they were…

Gay love has been an issue for the longest now and it’s beginning to get out of hand. But that’s not the only thing that’s getting out of hand, what also is getting out of hand is societies view on those who are transgender. Which brought to my attention that some people are so reluctant to change that they resort violence and brute force in order to shape things into their image whenever something that they say is wrong starts to occur. They are only interested and care about what they want to see is “right” day to day. The way we approach people who are gay or transgender is outright ridiculous and ignorant which can easily be added to the millions of other situations where ignorance has occurred in history.…

There are people in the world that do not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth. This does not affect the transphobes at all it just affects trans* people. Just because someone does not feel comfortable in the body they were born with does not mean that you can just kick them down even more because they probably already are because of them feeling uncomfortable because something is off in their body and they are not sure why it is off and you are not helping it any. They may not like the way they are and you kicking them down more or purposely talking about their gender identity as if it is a bad thing or a choice is not going to help either is not accepting them because by doing this you can make them feel bad about themselves and not accept themselves for who they…
