A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens, is a story about Ebenezer Scrooge, the protagonist, who learns to change his attitude towards life. First off, Ebenezer Scrooge’s main conflict is that he has to learn how to become a better person, which makes the type of conflict person vs self. In the beginning of the story, he is described as being a harsh fellow, “No wind that blew was bitterer than he, no falling snow was more intent upon its purpose, no pelting rain less open to entreaty. . . The heaviest rain, and snow, and hail, and sleet, could boast of the advantage over him in only one respect. They often `came down' handsomely, and Scrooge never did” (3). This shows that in the beginning, Scrooge was a heartless man.
