Being an original person is important in a Transcendentalists eyes. As an individual you have the right to shape your own character and not be influenced by someone else. Anyone can express their own thoughts and ideas without having to change for someone else. Emerson’s maxim “Insist on yourself, never imitate” describes this ideal perfectly. Sometimes you have to look beyond what's realistic and use your imagination. Transcendentalists like the idea of being creative and using your own mind to create your destiny. There are many principles that fall under the category of imagination. For example a Transcendentalist believe in intuitive thought or whatever you believe to be true becomes true. I think that this is taking this a little too far but if you were to believe in this using your imagination to form these thoughts would be needed. I think a maxim that touches on this subject is stated by Emerson, “Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.” Your thoughts are not always the right ones,but using your imagination will make you go farther than if you were to never dream at
