Trail Ride Narrative

Every year in the Spring and again in the Fall I attend the Coxburg Trail ride. The trail ride starts at the old gym in Coxburg and travels twelve miles to a huge field, probably about four acres, where lunch is served and then back around to the gym a little bit shorter way ranging around six miles. Normally, weather permitting, about two hundred and fifty horses and around ten wagons show up to ride. It is so much fun because there are people playing their music, some people have grills on their wagons and are grilling sausage. I have had the same horse since I was five months old, but really just started riding three years ago. His name is Candy Man and he is king of the hill. Once we finally got on the other side of the gate we had to wait for the rest of the people, which again Mr. Attitude did not want to just stand there he was now ready to go. He loves to be in the front of everything, but due to some rules I could not let him go in front of the wagons, just in front of the horses. So, after he had gotten popped for raring up, popped for not wanting to walk, and popped for trying to reach around and nibble my toes, I thought we were ready. I was already at the front and my boyfriend, Silas, was all the way at the back so I made him sit there until Silas could catch up. When Silas finally caught up we rode for about a mile and Candy Man started up again. I always run to go ahead and get it out of him, but that day it was a last resort because it was cold and had already rained that morning so the pavement was wet. He wouldn’t quit so I told Silas that I would be waiting for him down the road, I did not make it that far.
