In 1830 President Andrew Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act which moved the Indians west to ensure the expansion of the Americas. This act was posed to ensure safe travels by American troops but this 2,200 mile journey proved to be traitorous killing about 4,000 people, there forth earning its name The Trail of Tears.
