9/11 Bombing Effect

“Terrorist attacks can shake the foundation of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve” (Bush). Before I was born the world faced one tragedy after another. These events not only effected the countries they happened in , but also many places all around the world. On September 11, 2001 a tragedy struck closer to home. This is a day that the world will never forget. Thousands of American 's lost their lives that day. While I was celebrating my fourth birthday, people all around the world were mourning the loss of thousands of people due to a terrorist attack in New York. The bombing took place on September 20, 1997 this bombing was one of the worst that occurred in over a year. Around fifty people were injured as a result of this attack. The bombing not only injuries people, but also damaged many surrounding buildings and cars. The car that caused the explosion was place close to a police station. They were able to determine if they police station was the target. They also could never give a definite answer on who was behind the bombing, but according to the article they believe it was a terrorist attack (Behram). Before the attack happened, there was a war that lasted for ten months between to local religious groups. To end the war the two groups signed a type of peace treaty. Rosebery was in New York on September 11, 2001. He was a struggling actor who was working a temp job. Each morning he and his wife would leave for work and he would take the subway to his stop that was just below the World Trade Center. When writing about his experiences of when the first plane hit he said this, “I heard a very loud sound and was “moved” sideways. My first thought was that someone had dropped something very heavy on the floor above me.”(Rosebery). Soon after he felt the movement he was told what was going on outside. His wife got through to him and told him what was going on. At this point in time everyone just thought it was a complete accident that the plane had hit the world trade center. Rosebery talked how once he was outside he could hear the screams of those around him. After a while he eventually started running away from the towers while many people were running towards them.He frantically tried to get ahold of his wife, but was unable to reach her seeing as he had their one cell phone and the lines were jammed by everyone trying to reach their families. After a while his wife called back telling him that she was at one of their friends apartments and the she was safe. Once he arrived at their friend’s apartment they stepped onto the roof and watched in horror as the North Tower Collapsed. Not much is said about the hours that followed
