Descriptive Essay: Scelestus City

Scelestus City is exactly how I remember it. From the ground, it looks like a completely war-destroyed city with no survivors and no hope for life. I know better. I know what really hides in those broken buildings and overgrown streets. Murderers and cutthroats. I can almost imagine the sound of fighting and death in the distance and the smell of crime on the wind. It’s a place of utter chaos and it’s exactly where my friends are.
It’s strange being back and looking down on the city as it stretches out for miles and miles. The giant three hundred foot wall surrounds the entire city with a mine-field between that and the crumbling city. He actually loses me at one point. I halt as soon as I realize he’s not behind me. A tiny bit of me panics. He could have possibly separated himself from me this quickly, but clearly he has. I backtrack, annoyed, going back up the wet alley way and peer into the open street. I spot him before he spots me. He’s down the street, knowing to keep to the shadows. He searches for me and I wait a minute for him to find me. He finally notices me and swiftly makes his way to me.
I sigh, irritated. Is it really that hard to keep up with me?
“Where did you go?” he asks, sharply, once we’re both in the safety of the alley shadows. The cold and rain is making him grumblier than usual. “Where did I go?” I echo in disbelief. “You’re the one who got lost from me.”
“I thought I heard something and when I glanced back, you were gone,” he explains.
I start moving again. We can’t just stay in one place and we are so close to our destination, after nearly thirty minutes of racing through the rain. “You could have followed my footsteps. It’s not like the rain is making this job
