Sophocles Antigone: What Makes A Perfect Tragedy

What do you think makes a Perfect tragedy? After reading Sophocles Antigone, Aristotle created a perfect tragedy through poetry by talking about the foundation for comedic and dramatized poems. After reading Antigone my belief is strong that Aristotle created a perfect tragedy. You will understand that Aristotle 's ways of characterizing tragedy in four ideas, which are required of the tragic character. The character must be a good and upstanding person. A man can be forgiven for his actions, but sibling rivalry that ends in death is inhumane and unjust. After both brother get killed in battle, Creon who is the new ruler of Thebes, has declared that Eteocles will be honored and Polyneices disgraced. The rebel brother 's body will not be sanctified by holy rites, and will lay unburied.
This is when Antigone and Ismene who are the sisters of the two brothers who were killed in battle this is when Antigone wants to bury Polyneices body, in defiance of Creon 's edict. Ismene refuses to help her, fearing the death penalty, but she is unable to dissuade Antigone from going to do the deed by herself. This is when Creon Gets mad after he finds out that they buried Polyneises body after he said he was not too be buried. This is when Creon questions Antigone About who buried the brothers body. going back too the seven characteristics that Aristotle believes makes up a tragedy, you can relate the death of the brothers by looking at both characters and how they both were shown pity for what they did. A big stepping stone too understanding the perfect tragedy in Aristotle 's poetics is too look at how human law matches up to gods law and how this creates a civil disobedience. After the death of Polynesis Antigone wanted to bury his body with honor, but Creon the new king did not agree with Antigones belief. By Antigone not being afade of death, she approaches creon about how inhumane it is for what he is doing with his body, she goes against his order and buries his body. Therefore Creon sends her and her sister too her doom and she ends up killing her self. I would think of Antigone as being a perfect tragedy because of how the play is laid out. It has a beginning middle turning point and a ending. There are many ways that the story had experienced drama by having the deaths of the brothers and also the death of Antigone. Furthermore A perfect tragedy will be complex and organized play that will have turning points that will lead the readers attention off of one thing and onto another. Throughout the story there were many situations that involved sorrow, pity, and tragedy. Antigone is live drama and a perfect example of “A Perfect
