Character Analysis: Oedipus The King-Never Leaving Home

Never Leaving Home Throughout the course of life, one may venture to discover the many wonders of the world; from the heights of the grandest mountains to the depths of the ocean trenches. One can explore the varied cultures of their newly found surroundings and even conform to a different religion. With the amount of change possible in one’s life, their roots of existence still thrive within them, as Sonsyrea Tate states, “You can leave home all you want, but home will never leave you.” The character Oedipus from Oedipus the King discovers that home cannot leave him when he attempts to leave Corinth to avoid his prophecy, only to fulfill it. Neo from The Matrix attempts to leave his home to discover his true identity, only to discover he is trapped in a controlled computer world.
