The tragedy of domestic violence in the United States of America must be eliminated. It is a preventable public health problem that affects millions. There is a need for education and awareness in different areas of domestic violence as the term covers a broad spectrum of violence: intimate partner violence, child maltreatment, teen dating violence, and elder abuse. My intent is to bring awareness in all areas of the spectrum.
Doors will open for me with a title in the Miss America system, allowing opportunities to spotlight this issue and bring hope and help to our nation’s most vulnerable. Violence is criminal. We need more action to end this atrocity, which impacts individuals, families, communities, states, our nation, and the world.
