It wasn’t until English class, my second favorite subject, that I finally understood. The class was in the middle of doing a project that our teacher had assigned on a book – The Giver. She told me that I didn’t have to participate because I wasn’t there since the beginning of the term. Being the nerd that I was and still am, I told my teacher to give me the assignment because I thought of it as a challenge. After two days, which was when the assignment was due, I came back with the project and book in my hands, ready to go. Everyone was shocked when they saw me, including my teacher. We found the solution in Penn Foster High School, an online school. It was a learning center where I could learn at my own personal pace. When I heard this, I was excited and yet terrified.
