I really enjoyed this poem because the title sounds completely awkward and almost like an oxymoron, when it really has an incredible story behind it. The metaphors and similes are comparing a toothbrush and a bicycle tire to the characters in this poem. As it sounds, these characters will most likely not be connected, because a toothbrush and a bicycle tire usually aren’t connected, but this story has a strong meaning behind it. GIST: “The Toothbrush To The Bicycle Tire” is a poem about how this author lives her life in spite of what other people call her and how they try to control her life with their actions. “They told me that I was meant for the cleaner life; that you would drag me through the mud.” (19) I really like this quote because
