“Your father was not killed by merely mortal men, but assaulted and killed by Vilgoth’s fellow gods. With the amulet in your possession, it will protect you from their assaults, with one additional benefit–if any god comes in close proximity to you, he himself will become mortal and vulnerable to attack. It is the ultimate invocation and once cast, nothing will be able to stop you. You will soon have the item that your father did not possess which led directly to his downfall, and once in your hands, you can then focus all of your efforts on obtaining the final necessary item, the Tome of Vilgoth. Frustrated with his inability to access his armor’s energy, he practiced his shadow step until it became second nature to him, and somewhat satisfied with his progress, he decided to impress Balthazar with his newly found ability, the stoppage of time. With a thought and a wave of his hand, Balthazar froze. Delighted with the ease he had performed this spell, he walked to the window and looked out, surprised to see that everything in the courtyard had stopped too. It appeared that this powerful spell encompassed the entire manor and courtyard but how far the effects reached, he was uncertain. He would have to investigate how much of his world was affected the next time, but for now, he turned his focus back to Balthazar. Moving all the books from the desk to the chair, he replaced them with the statue of Vilgoth that he had taken from the next room. Satisfied with all he’d done, he stood behind Balthazar, waved his hand and the event ended. Startled, Balthazar was aware that something had happened, but unsure what had occurred, surveyed the room, and immediately noticed his books on his desk had been moved and replaced with Vilgoth’s statue. Alarmed, he drew his sword and quickly turned only to find Nightburn standing behind him smiling sheepishly. Comprehending what had occurred, he let out a long, loud
