Reflective Essay On Power Point Analysis

For me, this semester in English has been as a man running several miles. At the start he is ready for the run, and even excited for it to come to him. He begins, and the run is easy. He imagines he can run forever, as he has just begun. The time passes and imagination begins to come to his mind, as the excitement of the activity has not yet deserted. Eventually, as always happens, the end approaches. The energy with which the man embarked on this run is diminishing. He sets a goal and says he will go that far and then stop. He does not though, finish at the same pace with which he has been running so far. He sprints, and runs as fast as he can towards the end. As I know come to the final sprint of this race my legs are tired, and my side hurts, but the end is in site so I speed up. As with every run, my mind recalls the highlights of the run that I have embarked upon and reflects the start. I began with …show more content…
I am not so afraid of power point; I am more comfortable with presentation, and I renewed my commitment to writing. In the past I have not really known how to use power point, and would sometimes get frustrated with it. When the assignment came though, to construct a power point on our essay I was excited. This was because the power point was going to be based on something that I love, reading. As I completed the assignment the excitement that was felt from the topic of reading merged with the process of working with power point. I began to actually enjoy it. Another thing that I was really shy of was presentations. Not the ones where you get to turn the assignment in, and walk away, but the ones where you had to stand up and give an oral presentation. In this class it was nice to be able to do that, without having to see the ones who would hear me. It was a nice middle ground and helped me to become more comfortable with

I knew that I couldn’t look around or I would slow down, so I looked straight forward. I didn’t look back and when I hear my dad shouting my name, I pushed myself even further. And I won. I won. The horrific event on Boylston Street changed the lives of many in only 12 seconds on April 15th, 2013. People crossing the finish line were very lucky. Your peripheral vision is gone—there’s complete focus, then a silence so muted that all you know is the feeling of your heart beating. Then, as you stand there motionless, you feel the adrenaline. I mean really feel it—a syrup coursing through your veins, yet not a syrup as it moves faster than blood. You know when it hits your heart because it starts beating faster, faster, faster, and then the feeling is gone. Then everything is gone—emotions, breath, sensation……

Rain streamed through my hair and down my body. Soaked from warming up in the downpour, runners stood at the starting line—Not all as excited as me. After tearing a ligament in my foot a month prior, my foot healed enough to run Sectionals. I wore the “space” boot until my warm-up when I switched to training shoes. As soon as the team and I started running, sharp pain told me that my foot demanded more time to heal—I neglected the pleas of my foot.…

Every wednesday I crossed the finish line 1 minute sooner than I had the previous wednesday. If I could do that, I could do anything. On a cold morning in late October of 2010, I timidly put on my uniform, followed by my warm up sweats, and tied the laces of my running sneakers for the last time of the year. All of my hard work paved the way for that day: my final race. The time had come.…

Bang, the gun sounds. I sprint out of my box, following teammates in pursuit of the leader. The pack of cross country runners appears to envelop me from my parent’s sight. I hurdle toward the first flag, passing competitors right and left. All the rest is a blur, just the pounding of my heart and the thumping of feet as I run, breathing heavier and heavier, twisting and turning through the trails to reach the chute.…

The artifact I chose was a speech that we prepared for for about two weeks and then delivered using only note cards, visual aids, and our memory. I had to have oral citations that gave credibility to the author throughout our speech and had a time limit of five to eight minutes. The point of the speech was to keep my audience entertained and deliver a lot of information on a topic that was interesting and applicable to the audience and me. I was also the “expert on the topic”. I chose this as my best piece of work because it is hard to get a good grade on the speech and memorize my content.…

Persuasive Essay It was a beautiful summer morning with sunshine and it was 72 degrees outside. I was never able to just rest when I was tired out on the dry grassy grounds of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota during a 5K cross country race. Before the race I was very nervous and I would hope that it would not start. When the race started, it was extremely intense with all the runners around me moving faster as I struggled to keep up with them.…

“Runners on your mark…Set...Poww!” Those were the last sounds I heard during what could have been my last race of my sophomore year in collegiate Track and Field. It was a frisky, yet cool Saturday in April and after a strong performance in the previous indoor and outdoor season (4x100m and 400m), I was determined to continue and uphold my strong form on this day. There is a saying that things do not always turn out the way we hope, but I believe, there is always a positive lesson to be learned from every life event. I love sports.…
