My Grandpa

The project I’m doing is about the time I lost my grandpa unexpectedly. My larger picture is the appreciation I had for my grandpa who will never be forgotten. He was a great grandfather, husband, and father to his two step-daughters. Everyone appreciates someone in his or her life and the person I appreciate is my grandpa. I chose this topic because Bill was my step-grandpa and he became a big part of my life and the person I am today. I realized this with his recent passing in March. The vessel I chose is a three ring binder with pictures of him and me on the front and back. The pictures are to show everyone the memories we shared together before his passing ranging from when I was a little girl to a seventeen-year-old. Having …show more content…
He was always one of those grandparents who enjoyed listening to stories about what all went down at your games or how you won it. He always would have a huge smile on his face when he would see a picture of me in the local newspaper. As soon as he saw my pictures in the paper he would cut them out immediately and give me a call to tell me how proud he was of me and what I had accomplished. He spoke very highly of me to all his friends who knew him in town; everyone around town knew him in some sort of way. My grandpa was someone who would put a smile on my face and say funny things to cheer people up. He never liked to see his grandkids sad. He was so incredibly proud of my grades in school that he started a college fun for me to save for the day I head off to college. He would give me twenty dollars for every A I got, ten for every B, and five dollars for any C’s. He made me realize how important school really was. He made me realize how much I want to succeed in life as I grow up through the years as my high school career is soon coming to an end with just one year left, one which will go by

He could not wait to tell me that he had been working on counting at home and that he could now count to fifty by himself “without the bears” (bear shaped counting manipulatives). Along his adventure of a lifetime, he meets many people who help, hinder, and befriend him. The first of these mentors is his grandfather, whom McCandless was quite fascinated by. Chris McCandless had a very close relationship with his grandpa, Loren Johnson. Loren was “...proud and stubborn and dreamy, a woodsman, a self-taught musician, a writer of poetry.”(108) Chris looked up to his grandfather. “The old man’s backwood savvy, his affinity for the wilderness, left a deep impression on the boy.” (109) McCandless’s fondness of his Grandpa and what he stood for, the outdoors, independence, and craftiness, may have been a large factor which played into Chris’s shaping up into the person who he was.…

My dad plays jokes or acts very funny when he is in a happy mood so I could see that he was happy and that made me happy and full of joy to see that he was proud of me. When my parents and I exchanged hugs at the end of the night I could feel how they were going to miss with the distance that would be between us when I went to college. The First Day of the Rest of My Life As ancient greek philosopher Plato once said, “ The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life”. After my first few years of school, I learned that this quote is immensely true, since one’s education path dictates what happens in that person's life. Without a doubt, many events can significantly influence how a person lives his life. For example, a death of a loved one, getting a pet, or the first sporting event he attends. Although these are events can shape someone, their first day of school can be even more influential, towards the rest of their life.…

I especially liked the scene when the whole team helped Timo finish his 2,500 pushups and 1,000 suicides sentenced to him by Coach Carter. That weekend break may have given all of us time to think about us as a team because that Monday was a huge blowout in favor of us. As the season dragged into 2013, we ended up winning some and losing some. Marcus seemed like a blessing on the days that he did come. He just seemed to always part the throng of opponents in the post as he dunked…
