In the story The Tiger or the Lady the princess, the main character, in the end has to decide what door she wants her "truly beloved" to open. The reason her true love has to decide which door to open is because he fell in love with the princess, and her father wasn't fond of a peasant, gazing his eyes upon a glorious gal that's his daughter. Overall, this elegant Princess is a selfish, jealous, and shallow person and I believe she told the man, that fell in love with her, to unlock the door with the tiger.

As a matter of opinion the princess only draws near men because of their appearances. Ultimately, since she looks glorious, he needs to appear spectacular, and if he doesn't meet her standards she obviously won't be interested in him. Presently, in the beginning the story, it talks about how the princess's father is a barbaric king and it also states how she felt about her secret lover, "This royal maiden was well satisfied with her lover, for he was handsome and brave to a degree unsurpassed in all this kingdom" (9). In other words, this one sentence summons up how she actually felt about her undercover lover, she acknowledged him because of his outer appearance. Therefore, since she looked superb, he had to be more pleasant to the eye, and indeed he was. All characteristics considered, lead the princess's decision towards the door of the tiger.
In conclusion, the princess chose the door of the tiger for the fate of her beloved. Similarly, the princess relates to her father, who's barbaric, and no one has ever shown her what actual love looks like. I believe that she is very similar to her father in ways that would force her to kill her beloved, by sending him to the vicious tiger. The princess is a selfish, jealous, and extremely shallow person altogether. Her characteristics connect with her resolution of the flesh devouring tiger to tear her lover apart, only because

In the beginning of the story, Beauty is described as a “the beautful child” that is “admired by everyone”, and she even has a “wealthy merchant” father that loves her dearly (36) Her beauty implies that she superficially should marry someone of wealth and prominence, like her snobby sisters. In the reading we find out how she is jealous of others because she sees them as a threat. "It was one of the loveliest of the damsels of the court who had been selected as the reward of the accused youth, should he be proved innocent of the crime of aspiring to one so far above him; and the princess hated her" (Paragraph 14, 3). This quote shows how the princess is jealous of the maiden and that entire quote is filled with hatred. "The girl was lovely, but she had dared to raise her eyes to the loved one of the princess; and, with all the intensity of the savage blood transmitted to her through long lines of wholly barbaric ancestors, she hated the woman who blushed and trembled behind that silent door" (Paragraph 14, 3). This passage suggests how jealous the princess really can be while thinking about her boyfriend with someone else.…
