“The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls:” The Significance and Respect of Life In the poem, “The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls,” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the author uses a traveler as the main character which would eventually face death. This poem is based on reality and the truths of life. The world is impacted by everyone’s actions, that is why this poem shows that even the simplest person is loved and appreciated by any other. The poem by Mr.Longfellow shows characteristics of value in each human being and the respect to life itself.
