Imagine your happy place; imagine how much money it costs to get into that place and how you feel when you arrive at your happy place. Imagine only having to pay $1 as an admission fee to your happy place. Back in 1955 that was the cost you would have to pay to get into a place that many people adore (Blasingame). Disneyland makes a ton of money a year solely based on how much money it takes to actually get into the parks. To gain a better understanding, I will first preview the history of ticket prices. Next, explain the symbolism of Disneyland, and finally, discuss the current ticket prices of Disneyland. The history of Disneyland ticket prices from its opening day in 1955 compared to the cost to enter the parks now has increased tremendously. Alex Blasingame states on March 20, 2015 “When adjusted to 2015 dollars, the cost to do everything at Disneyland in 1955 was $65.40, or about $33 cheaper than it is today. We now have a baseline ticket cost with which to compare all future price changes.” To enter the parks it cost $1, to ride all the attractions in the park it cost $6.60 for a whopping $7.60 to ride and enter the Disneyland park. Disneyland had little tickets that you would have to purchase separately to get onto the attractions called A-C Tickets (Blasingame). Back in 1955, there were only 35 rides (Giuliano).
