The three ways that community can be viewed as would be according to place, interest and communion (Smith, 2001). According to my experiences, I believe that a community formed based on sharing a common interest is the strongest unifying force because I think that there would be a lot of similarity between members of the community. For instance, I used to be a fan of Korean pop music and I used to connect with people over our love k-pop, while it seems weird some of my closest friends I have met because of it. However, I am aware that it’s not the only way to form a strong community but I see the other condition as weaker since we live in a world that’s more globalized and more people are shifting around which makes forming/maintaining a connection with the community pretty hard. While I’m at the IC I get the help that I need from the advisors and I volunteer there with my friends and I can get the help with my writing from CSW and I can study in the study space that’s close; this is a wonderful place to get everything that I would need from how to apply for my visas to how to correct my assignment. Moreover, I understand that would cause a separation between students, but I feel that it is necessary for a community to form so that you can know who’s a part of the community and who’s not. In addition, the reason that I felt that a community in university would be a group of people who are together based on their shared interest would be reinforced by the idea of student association formed based on faculty such as Education Students’ Association, Business Students’ Association or School of Public Health
