The initial stage of verbal abuse is the Tension-building stage. During this stage the abuser is filled with rage. They become controlling and possessive. Control their victim, and who they can associate with is their main goal. Next is the second stage, which is known to be the abusive-stage. In this stage, the abuse places the victim in an unfortunate position. They would use any simple excuse to attack their victim. Finally, the last stage is the remorse stage. When it is all said, and done, then it is time for apologies. This stage is when the abuser starts to calm down, apologies, and promises to never do it again. There a many outcomes of verbal abuse. “Verbal abuse doesn't leave physical bruises, but it can cause deep and lasting mental scars.” (Barr par.1) Two outcomes of verbal bullying are emotional issues, and it may even cause death. To manage, many abuser turns off their ability to feel any type of emotional pain from within themselves or their target. It is also know that the abusers have some type of mental disorder. Some of these disorders are bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and schizophrenia. A next cause of verbal abuse is stress. The abuser may be stressing from numerous of things. An abuser may have a low self esteem that causes them to let out all of their stress unto their victim.
