Being an educator, someone may approach you and ask “What is your educational philosophy or purpose of education”? Would you know the answer automatically, would it take you a few days to actually analyze the question, or would you answer be different every time someone does ask you the question. For the world is always changing. As for me, my answer changes yearly. This question was asked when I was an undergrad doing student teaching. I thought my purpose of education was to teach by the books to educate students with the right information. As time went on, I have learned that teaching by the books isn’t necessarily the best way of teaching. There are so much more other resources that I could implement in teaching. After educating students the building blocks and fundamentals from pre-k to twelve grade, to preparing them for their future rather it be a career or something else in college and higher education, comes handing off the torch so to speak. It is now up to the adults that we as educators have taught trough all these years to convert the information into purpose. To take the resources, tools, and knowledge given and make your own beliefs, do what you are passionate about, and make your own sense of the world we live in today. As this point in life, you know what you want in life, what works best for you, and what your interests are. There is always going to be trial and error and room to learn and grow from mistakes. There is always going to be a learning moment when you learn something new or something makes more sense than it did before. For no one can know everything and education is continuous. There will always be a time when you have an opportunity to share your life experience and knowledge to help educate someone else.
