World War II, if not the bloodiest, was one of the most bloody and expensive wars in all of history. WWII claimed millions of lives, cost billions of dollars, and spun the entire world upside down. While there were many different causes, three of them were the most significant including the Treaty of Versailles, the rise of Fascism and Nazism, and The Great Depression.
