Once upon a time, there “was” three little pigs and a big bad wolf. At, first the pigs were skeptical with moving next to a wolf's house, for obvious reasons. The first pig built his house out of straw, the second pig made his out of twigs, and the third pig made his out of concrete. When night fall came and the pigs were sleeping, the big bad wolf came out, since he was asleep all day.…

Essay-2 CHALLENGE FROM MARGINAL CASES Having gone through the ‘Challenge from Marginal Cases: in the Article “Puppies, Pigs and People”, it seems the author Alastair Norcross is of the view that any mutilation or torture to non-human animals is morally impermissible irrespective of the actions of Fred’s behavior and torture of the animals or slaughtering or mutilation of farmed animals. He argues that there is no difference as the animal is mutilated in either case. In one case Fred tortures his puppies directly to obtain cocoamone for his pleasure whereas in other case farmed animals are slaughtered to cater the need of the people. From the above I feel, Fred is a rare consumer of cocoamone and the way he treats or torture puppies himself in an unorganized way and keep animal…

The character from the lord of the flies that I admire most is Piggy. There had been countless times where I have been pushed to the point of giving up, but every single time I have had a way to escape, whether that was putting it off, making excuses or letting someone else do it, but in Piggy’s situation he had nowhere to run from his problem but he still powered through. He is a leader, He is relentless. He is thoughtful. That is why I admire Piggy the most.…

Coming-of-age stories detail the growth—physical, mental, and emotional—of a young character who is aging into adulthood. The character in question is often presented with obstacles in their journey. These obstacles can range from internal conflicts to adversaries who feel threatened by (or do not understand) the protagonist. The main character must pass the impediments in their path, and learn to understand who they are in the process. Verlyn Flieger's Pig Tale shows its audience the life and trials of a young girl named Mokie on her path to adolescence.…
Throughout our performance, we used the technique ‘body as prop’ successfully to convey the structure of two of the three little pig’s houses. There was a contrast in the two houses due to the differentiated shape and tension. To convey the building of the house, synchronised movement was used to show the shape develop. To show that I was acting as my character my face was in neutral; this showed the audience the diversity between my character and the usage of body prop. I also feel that we developed the piece affectively around the stimulus of a “political interpretation of ‘the Three Little Pigs’ “.…

Often, we as people, are faced with a difficult question: is it morally right or morally wrong to eat meat. Alastair Norcross discusses this in his article, “Puppies, Pigs, and People: Eating Meat and Marginal Cases.” In this article Norcross tells the story of Fred, a man who lost the ability to taste chocolate due to a car accident. He sets up twenty-six cages of puppies, and leads them to live stress induced lives. This is because when the puppies are under stress, they produce a hormone called cocoamone, which can give Fred the ability to taste chocolate again.…
John Steinbeck expressed his life through his novels, novellas and poems. For instance, many of Steinbeck’s literary works take place in an area similar to his own home, Salinas Valley, California, an area full of farms, ranches, and orchards (Bloom). Also, California was an area known for attracting farm hands and migrant workers during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl eras because the soil was more nutrient-rich due to its short history of farming (Bloom). This setting transferred over to several of Steinbeck’s works including Of Mice and Men (1937), which is actually set in Salinas Valley. Another example of Steinbeck writing his life into his works is that, as a writer, Steinbeck often struggled financially and was forced to work outside…
