Imagination:
David Wiesner
An illustrator gives life to a story when mere imagination is not enough. In Japan a form of illustration is seen in manga, in the U.S. some illustrations can be seen in comics and graphic novels, but those are not the only kinds of illustrations that exist. Although there are many styles and techniques in the world, illustrators all create drawings that captivate their audience. Illustrations are a way to connect with the audience whether it is through paintings, drawings etc,. Like the saying goes a “picture is worth a thousand words” and this is true especially when talking about stories without any words. For that reason, even though illustrations are different in different places, that does not change the fact

This time the author does not use any words to tell a story. Instead of relying on words, he uses his drawing to tell a tale about clouds. In The Three Little Pigs, the possibility for the impossible is again seen as the three pigs embark on a journey away from their own story and into other worlds. The story about The Little Pigs is not the only story that has a what if possibility for its story. In Flotsam, surrealism style if again present as the arthur introduces the possibility of humans not being the only ones capable of civilization. When he is focusing on the perspective of the cat, Wiesner uses light color for the background and a dark color on the cat’s fur. This makes Mr. Wuffles pop out from his surroundings and makes it clear that he is the focus of the illustration. On the other hand, colors get darker when the there’s a change of perspective. Wiesner does this to make a contrast between Mr.Wuffles and the aliens’ situation. While Mr Wuffles is seen as carefree and fascinated by his surroundings, the aliens situation is seen more delicate. This is seen as Wiesner uses colors like gray, red, green and yellow in order to show the seriousness of the moment. On the other hand, Mr. Wuffles’ perspective has more soothing colors like light red, light yellow, light brown in order to express the careness of the

The artist uses complementary colors that tug equally at the eye. She uses a dynamic contrast of red and green to two of the shapes. Due to this, the artist keeps the viewers eyes from resting on one area of the composition for far too long. In this painting, Dorothea uses value contrast to show the differences in dark and light. While some tones appear lighter due to the artist adding white as if illuminated, other tones are darkened as if to suggest that a light has caused the shapes to have created shadows.…

In conclusion, Jack and the tribe should be tried with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Simon and Roger should be tried with murder in the second degree for the death of Piggy. Both of these defendants have sufficient evidence to be convicted of their respective accusations. Roger knew exactly what he was doing when he pushed the boulder thus making him fully responsible in Piggy’s death. On the flip-side, no one person holds full guilt in Simon’s death due to the madness of their situation and the absence of logical thought and reasoning. These deaths are the result of the boy’s battle between savagery and humanity.…

Foundation Before Density In Scott McCloud’s graphic essay, “Show & Tell”, McCloud uses an appreciable combination of words and images interchangeably to convey clear and comprehensible thoughts, He establishes better, more understood, literature by depicting images directly alongside pieces of text. Evidently, pictures are an associative mechanism that enables newcomer and experienced readers to make visual connections to text they normally would not conclude to by only analyzing and interpreting words (McCloud). Moreover, aside from images allowing readers to make connections, illustrations are particularly crucial components in literary works because they can convey coherent messages all on their own. In all, visual depictions in literature…

The character from the lord of the flies that I admire most is Piggy. There had been countless times where I have been pushed to the point of giving up, but every single time I have had a way to escape, whether that was putting it off, making excuses or letting someone else do it, but in Piggy’s situation he had nowhere to run from his problem but he still powered through. He is a leader, He is relentless. He is thoughtful. That is why I admire Piggy the most.…

In the last few pages of his captivating novel, The Pigman, author Paul Zindel uses very heartbreaking and emotional techniques to create the events that lead up to the Pigman’s demise at the end of the story. The three main suspects I have for Mr. Pignati’s death are Norton, Bobo, and John. The first factor/character to cause Mr. Pignati’s death is Norton. One reason is that after he barged into Mr. Pignati’s house while John was throwing a party inside the house, he proceeded to trash Mr. Pignati’s place by smashing all of his pigs which angered John enough which caused the two to begin fighting.…

In Kingsolver's novel Pigs In Heaven, Kingsolver uses Francis the Pigs as a multi-level metaphor. In the sense that she tells three dramatic stories which are unresolved until she recites Francis the Pigs which in context is even more horrible than the last two stories because of the way Francis died. Francis is a runaway pig and he escapes from a slaughterhouse in Red Deer. He keeps in running away evading the butcher and even tracking professional. Every author, regardless of what genre, shares one common characteristic: the desire for their books to come to life in the mind of the reader. Authors try to achieve this goal in a variety of ways. For example, an author might use relatable, real-life situations to keep readers interested in the story. Others will add several twists and turns within the plot to play with the reader’s emotions and make them want to come back and read more. There are also several authors that use extremely strong descriptions to enhance the reader’s ability to visualize the story they are trying to portray.…

Piggy is the type of person that is easily made fun of. The other boys see him as an easy target to harass and bully because of his appearance and his level of maturity. He is much more knowledgeable than everyone else on the island and he is the most like an adult. Naturally, if Piggy looked different and had a different name made up for him, he would have been the chosen leader. When the novel first started, the initial reaction to him was that he was the fat kid and he would be manipulated throughout the book.…

Beaker presumably laments about the struggle of his inability to articulate real sentences. Everyone wants what they cannot have and complains about what they do have to people who cannot possibly understand.…

Reflection My original perception of the story was from the three little pigs point of view. Growing up reading different versions of the story, it was never from the wolf's point of view. After reading it from the wolf's perspective in class the other day I would have never expected for the wolf to actually be a decent and nice character. A lot of writers have written out the story where the pigs point of views seem"correct" because in most similar short stories, there Is always one bad character which in this case was the wolf.…

What’s that Pig Outdoors by Henry Kisor is both a dream and a nightmare. It is a book written by a deaf man, and self proclaimed to be for the deaf. Kisor’s autobiography takes the reader through his life, starting with the meningitis that caused him to be deaf at age 3, to his adult life as a journalist. In between, Kisor experiences some discrimination, such as not being allowed to be a lifeguard, but goes largely unopposed throughout his life. Kisor’s parents are very accepting, and fight hard for him to have the resources he needs.…
