I truly thought that the hermits wanted to harm the bishop. At first, I sensed a common connection with other stories, such as there is always a good and an evil. In this story, it was arduous to associate any character with evil. Each character, innocent in their own nature, did not present any poor qualities that would make me assume they are the villain. This fact evoked not only happiness but relief. Finally, a story without a villain, a love triangle, or a disaster. The end of the story assured me that no man’s prayer is better than the next. That is a comforting fact, due to myself, believing in God, but having the constant worry that the belief is not enough. I truly feel like the author must have also shared my feelings, as he challenged the taught way of religion with the religion one practices within oneself. “The Three Hermits,” a simple but powerful read, led me to ponder my own feelings towards religion and take it in stride. Simple men, that did not have much to say, said all they needed to in simple actions. This author conveyed his message of the divine power of God effectively and concisely. I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet men and the Bishop. A smile will remain on my face as I think about the text. I am left with joyful thoughts and moral lessons that will linger on longer than I know
