If my friend is sad, I can be able to understand what they are going through and help their complication in life. I can try to help how they are feeling by cheering them up, and taking their mind off of it. In JROTC, if somebody is mad because someone messed up in drill or PT, I can comprehend that they are mad and try to calm them down. Using the 5 elements of EI, I am self-aware of the emotions I produce and am able to control them in any situation provided. Self-awareness is also an attribute of being aware of how people feel about a certain idea and asking them their opinions on it. Leaders and Citizen use self-regulation to not make quick emotional decisions and to stay in control with their actions or others. Being able to motivate others to work towards their goals is another form of EI, in which pertains to me knowing where I stand and for me to know why I am doing the job provided.
