The Three Branches Paper Have you ever wondered how the three branches that makeup our government works? For starters, the three branches are the Legislative branch, the executive branch and the judicial branch. The three branches were made to distribute power among our government. This makes it where there is not one man or woman with complete power over the country. There are many responsibilities for each branch of the government. To begin with the legislative branches responsible for making laws and is led by congress. Congress is separated into two houses which are called the senate and the House of Representatives. There for a larger state is the more representatives they get, while the smaller the state the fewer representatives they get. The house of representatives is led by the speaker of the house. The House of Representatives can introduce spending bills, so if a law will spend money the bill must originate in the House of Representatives. They are also in charge of selecting the president if the Electoral College cannot reach a majority vote. The senate and the House of Representatives are called congress. Congress is responsible for making laws. A few other powers congress have are collecting taxes, making money, and declaring war. To be president you must be a natural born U.S citizen, you must also be at least 35 years of age, and must have lived it the United States for at minimum fourteen years. A president serves a four year term and is limited to serving two terms. The president is the commander and chief of the United States military. Under the president is the vice president who is chosen by the president. The president also works alongside his cabinet whose job is to assist the president. The president holds meeting with is cabinet in the Whitehouse where the discus problems. The twenty fifth amendment of the United States constitution focuses on the succession of the presidency. For example if the president is killed or dies while in office the vice president will become the president. If the president is removed from office the vice president will still become president.
