What impacts me the most in The Things I Want Most,,A Famliy, A fishing Pole, A Family is the way that Mikes emotional changes are so extreme like if he's mad he isn't just mad he's enraged by something or if he thinks you lied about something everything Sue says is a lie.
My experiences influence my reaction to what I've read to think that if Mike was with my parents that he wouldn't disrespect them like when Mike yelled "Fuck you. I don't have to clean up. We're not having company. I'm staying outside." (Miniter,1998,p74). that would not fly with my parents. Rick and Sue are tiptoeing around Mike when he need structure and need to know what rules he need to follow and be reprimanded.
My beliefs and values are that everyone should have a second chance and that everyone should treat each other as they want to be treated. Also that you should respect your elders. I think that Rick and Sue believe that everything will eventually come together with Mike and that's he will just suddenly be like their previous children. …show more content…
Like socially Mike is developmentally behind the "norm" for his age group. Physically Mike is small for his age, underweight doesn't have lots of muscle mass. Intellectually Mike is slow and behind on what his age would be
