January Comment: Tvisha is a sweet and gentle child, full of love and laughter. She typically enters the classroom with a sweet smile and sets off to choose a work in Practical Life or Sensorial. Tvisha is a keen observer and enjoys watching lessons given to her classmates. In circle, Tvisha listens intently and enjoys interacting with classmates. She loves to participate in Music and Spanish classes. She is very comfortable with the classroom environment, and feels empowered by her independence to choose work. She is a polite but confident child. She speaks her mind. If she does not like something, she would use her words and convey her message. Tvisha mingles with different children and engages herself in various games during the recess.

She enjoys building the brown stair and pink tower of cubes and requests a marble to run down her creation to hear the different sound made by each cube or prism. She is learning the names of the Geometric Solids, such as: sphere, cube, and cone. Tvisha knows the names of some two-dimensional shapes such as square, triangle, oval, and circle. She also can name and match primary and secondary colors. Repetition is a key concept of Montessori philosophy. In the beginning of the year, she received a lesson on the monomial cube. She thoroughly observed the lesson and practiced repeatedly often. As a result of this, she can work on the monomial cube entirely on her own. She is enjoying to form the cube of trinomial these days.

While counting the number of classmates at circle, she is able to count to 15. One of her favorite activities is working with the 0 – 9 bead bars, counting the beads on each bead bar. Tvisha also loves to explore the spindle box and teen bead bar. She will continue to develop her knowledge of numbers and their respective symbols next semester. We look forward to supporting her mathematical
