This particular theory of learning is dependent on how the educator performs which influences to the students success or failure by how much of a load the instructor assigns students throughout the course. Simply stated if the instructor is lazy and assigns only a small amount work in order to accomplish a specific goal then the margin of work required by the student is reduced and so is the their chance to actually be successful in learning anything from that course. The reduced work load is the only advantage I see in this theory of learning. The experimental theory of learning is the old tried and true learning theory based on the student learning through direct hands on application. This theory of learning allow the student to learn from successes and failures by actually doing assessment for example a auto mechanic student would learn tear down and then rebuild an automobiles engine by physically disassembling and then reassembling the complete engine. Through this process they would learn the importance of paying close attention to the tiny things since they affect how the completed engine will ultimately …show more content…
I chose this particular theory last because combines other theories. Transitional learning is a type of learning based on an individuals perspective due to personal changes that initiated a deep desire to obtain specific knowledge. This type of learning is not generally considered for classes based in EMS but in reality this type of learning occurs daily with providers on the field. An example of this would be a patient that presents with upper abdominal pain and acid reflux type complaints that a is treated and transported to the ER for evaluation. During the transport the patient states the abdominal pain is increasing and radiating to their chest so in an effort to relieve the discomfort the paramedic administered Pepcid by mouth with little to no relief from the discomfort. Once they arrive at the ER and the patient is assessed by the ER physician it was discovered the patient was having a myocardial infarction which was causing the abdominal pain. This particular medic learned from that mistake and today is high respected working in one of the elite cardiac cath labs in North Georgia. Different students learn different was so it is reasonable to have multiple theories of learning. These five theories above are just a few that are practiced daily throughout the country. So educators must be able to apply the best learning of teaching to accommodate the students theory of learning in practical
